Virginia Darling Newlee

Virginia Darling Newlee, 97, of Topeka passed away on July 4, 2016. She was born December 3, 1918 to Charles and Nellie Wilkins in Burchard NE. She lived and worked most of her life in Topeka. The job she loved the most was being a Foster Grandparent at KNI. She made many friends and memories there. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse C. Harvey, Sr. She remarried and was preceded in death by her second husband Charles William (Bill) Newlee. Also preceding her in death were a son, Jim E. Harvey; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Harvey; sisters, Meletta Kisner, Leota Thornton, Irene Botkins, Dorothy Kaufmann and Alberta Miller.
Virginia is survived by two sons, Jesse C. Harvey and wife Mary of Topeka, and Jack W. Newlee and wife Debbie of Topeka; one daughter, Janice Stangel and husband Eugene of Crosby, MN; one sister, Dora Hartzell of Topeka; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, July 8 at Davidson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-8 pm Thursday, July 7 at Davidson’s.
