Jeannine Jo Larue

Mrs. Jeannine Jo Blandin LaRue died peacefully while in hospice on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 in Hickory, NC at the age of 85.
Jeannine was born on July 6, 1930 in Shawnee County, Kansas to Joseph Blandin and Lora Shumway Blandin. She was a member of the Potawatomi Indian Tribe. She graduated from Philips University in Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science degree in Science. Later, she earned a Masters of Education degree at the University of Oklahoma. During her career as a teacher, she continued her professional studies at the University of Maryland.
Jeannine married Billy D. LaRue on February 28, 1955; they had one daughter, Denise M. LaRue. After teaching in Oklahoma, Kansas, California, and Bermuda, Jeannine and her family moved to Forestville, Maryland where she taught Science in the Prince George's County Public School System from 1965 until she retired. An educator at heart, she continued to substitute teach for several years after her retirement.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy D. LaRue, and her daughter, Denise M. LaRue
Jeannine was a member of the National Education Association (NEA), the Maryland State Teachers Association (MSTA), both the Alpha Delta Kappa & Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sororities, and the Lion's Club. She attended Mt. Calvary Catholic Church and was part of the Mt. Calvary Sodality. She played the piano, was an avid reader, and amassed a huge collection of cookbooks and Beanie Babies.

Burial of her ashes will be handled by Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka, Kansas. There will be a graveside service on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery 3616 SW Sixth Avenue Topeka, KS 66606. Condolences may be left on the following website: www.davidsonfuneralhome.net. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Calvary Catholic Church of Forestville, MD.
