Julia Merrifield, 89, Topeka, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016. Julia was born September 10, 1926 in Newton, Ks., the daughter of Leonard and Vesta (Holm) Merrifield. Julia graduated high school from Marshfield, Mo. She moved to Topeka with her young family in the early 1950’s. She worked as a church secretary, for the attorney general and 29 years as a computer operator for USFPO until her retirement in 1993.
She is survived by her four children; Janice Stadler (Jerry), Barbara Mah, Delbert Merrifield (Robin), Debbie Landis (Karl); 9 grandchildren, Jeffrey Stadler (Michelle), Jennifer Murray (David), Joseph Stadler (Amy), Janell Ridenour (Dennis), Lori Slater (Dustin), Shane Merrifield, Sarah Merrifield, Michael Gomer who is deceased, Daniel Landis (Ashley) and Jacob Landis; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, John Merriled (Alma)of Newton, Harold Merrifield (Dot)of Topeka; and 1 sister Nina McDonald (Jim) San Diego . She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, 1 brother, 1 grandchild and 1 great-grandchild, Kayden. She was a long time member of North Topeka Baptist Church and currently a member of West Side Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 29, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. She will lie in state Thursday from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank everyone who sent a card, said a prayer, or simply kept the family in their thoughts.
