Shelly Adee, Silver Lake, was called Home March 6, 2016 after battling cancer. Shelly was born April 19, 1961 to Clyde LaVerne and Karen (Kinner) Robertson in Grant, NE. Shelly graduated from high school in Salida, CO, with a BS from Fort Lewis College, Durango, CO, and a MS and PhD in Plant Pathology from University of Arizona and Kansas State University, respectively. She was married to Eric Adee Aug. 13, 1988. They were blessed with two sons, Daniel and Joshua. Prior to the birth of their first son, Shelly worked for AgriGenetics Seed Company and the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a scientist. With a priority to be home when the boys were home, she worked as a scientist part-time for the University of Illinois and Kansas State University, and at the schools the boys were attending. Shelly was very involved in church ministries at Faith Bible Church in Oquawka, IL, their church home for 16 years, serving in several roles including AWANA secretary. At First Baptist Church of Silver Lake, KS, their church home for the last 5 years, she had been involved in women’s ministries and prayer groups, as well as Bible Study Fellowship. Shelly was a consummate learner, always wanting to know more about her God and science. Also, she enjoyed many outdoor activities with the family, including biking, hiking, cross country skiing, canoeing, and walks. Shelly was a sports enthusiast, especially for her boys’ sporting events. She loved reading, music, quilting, gardening, canning produce and be a homemaker. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She was very compassionate, wanting to help others, which included cooking many meals for those going through a stressful time. She was a true Proverbs 31 wife and mother. She is survived by her husband, sons, parents, and brother, Stuart, sister-in-law, Chris Bingham (Kelly).
Memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Silver Lake with Rev. Daron Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at the Silver Lake Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday evening at the church in Silver Lake.
