Janet K. Weller, age 75, of Topeka, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Stormont Vail Regional Medical Center. Janet was born February 2, 1941 in Marysville, KS the daughter of Harold and Marjorie Vette Kotapish. Janet attended the Pleasant Hill Grade School and later the Prairie Ridge Grade School near Waterville before graduating from Waterville High School in 1958. During her teenage years, Janet traveled to Europe with her aunt and uncle, Fred and Rose Rhine. Upon her return she made multiple presentations on lifestyles of European culture. She went on to graduate from the Stormont Vail School of Nursing in Topeka. She married Richard “Dick” Weller October 14, 1961. Janet worked for over 45 years at the Kansas Neurological Institute where she served as Supervising Charge Nurse. Janet is survived by her husband Dick of over 54 years; two sons, Scot (Sheryl) Weller of Topeka; Ty (Nicole) Weller of Savannah, GA; a daughter, Tamara Weller of Winfield, KS; two brothers, Don Kotapish and Jim Kotapish, both of Blue Rapids and three grandsons. The Weller family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Stormont Vail for their superior care and kindness.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. She will lie in state Tuesday from noon – 8:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery near Blue Rapids. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Baker University School of Nursing and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.
