Doris Jean Behrens

Doris Jean Roeder Behrens of Topeka, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2015, at the Homestead Assisted Living facility in Topeka. She was 88.

She was born on May 4, 1927, in Martinsville, Missouri, the daughter of August P. and Willa G. Nickerson. She graduated from Wyandotte High School and Kansas City, Kansas Junior College. She has resided in Rio Verde, AZ, and in Topeka most of her life. Doris was the secretary to the president of Seymour Foods, Inc., and retired in 1995. She was a member of Northland Christian Church.

Doris married John Roeder on August 20, 1949, in Kansas City, Kansas. They were divorced. She married Gene Behrens on July 25, 1987, in Topeka, Kansas. Both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Lewis, and by her sisters, Ruth, Lorine, Wilma, Vera, and Maxine. Survivors include one daughter, Denise Lohness (Harley); two sons: David Roeder (Karen), and Scott Roeder; four grandchildren: Erica Tenpenny (Ben), Erin Davidson (Jesse), Natalie Roeder (Garett Martinek), and Nicholas Roeder. Her great grandchildren are Taylor Tenpenny, Morgan Tenpenny, Gavyn Davidson, Jordan Martinek, and Landrie Martinek.

She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.
