Paul Ernst Beem, 76, of Topeka passed away on Friday, December 18, 2015 at a Topeka hospital. He was born March 25, 1939 in Topeka. Paul worked for Talk of the Town Restaurant as a teenager. He served for eight years in the United States Air Force as an Airman First Class. He returned to Topeka and worked for over 32 years at Ismert-Hincke Milling Company, which later became Seaboard Allied Milling and then Cargill Foods in the early 1980s. He enjoyed cooking, especially grilling and was known for his steaks. He also made great pumpkin and pecan pies. Paul enjoyed fishing. He had a favorite fishing spot out near Maple Hill. He had a interest in trains and model railroading. He was a member of the Midland Railway at Baldwin City and the Topeka Chapter of the National Railroad Historical Society. He had been a member of the Topeka Gun Club. He had attended Assumption Catholic Church.
Paul was married to Helen Larson in Topeka on January 4, 1958 while he was in the Air Force. Helen preceded him in death on May 31, 2003.
Survivors include his son, Michael Beem of Topeka; brother, Arthur Beem and Evelyn of Ozawkie; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Davidson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Mater Dei Parrish or to the American Cancer Society.
