Dixie Lee Rees, 77, of Grantville, Kansas passed away November 19, 2015 at Stormont Vail in Topeka. She was born on August 30, 1938 in Topeka. She was the daughter of William Fannin Sr. and Ruth Lousie Williams. Dixie lived in Wakarusa where she attended Wakarusa Grade School. She later moved to Topeka where she graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1956. She married Richard Rees on October 22, 1961. She was a homemaker, and also worked at Blue Cross and Blue Shield as a secretary until 1963. Dixie was a member of the Grantville United Methodist Church and a life member of the Kansas Christmas Tree Growers. She was also the secretary of her bowling league called the “Northern Belles” at Gage North Bowling Center. She and her husband Richard are the owners of Pine-Apple Christmas Tree Farms. She is survived by her husband Richard and their two children, Michael (Ronna) Rees and Melissa (Keith) Ditch. Dixie had four grandchildren, Matthew (Elizabeth) Ditch, Jennifer Ditch, Eric Ditch, and Scott Rees. In addition she also had four great grandchildren, Caleb Ditch, Andrea Rhoads, Alaina Rhoads, and Emily Gray. She is preceded in death by her siblings William Fannin Jr., Pauline Lewis, Phyilis Mooney, John Edward Fannin, as well as both parents William Fannin Sr. and Ruth Lousie Williams. A visitation will take place Sunday, November 22, 2015 at 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held Monday, November 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Davidson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made out to Jefferson County Hospice in the care of Davidson Funeral home.
