Emma F. Samek

Emma Samek, 88, of Topeka passed away on October 20, 2015 in Topeka, Kansas. She was born October 9, 1927 at Corning, Kansas the daughter of Harry and Hazel Kolb Furst. She graduated from Mission Valley High School. Emma worked as a seamstress, and at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas for over 25 years until she retired.
Emma was married to Leslie Lee Kennedy in June of 1946 at Sabetha Kansas. He passed away in August of 1981. She married Daniel Marion Samek on February 4, 1985 at Topeka. Daniel passed away in March of 2010.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Walter and William Furst; two sisters, Betsy Furst and Donna Miller, and her oldest son Leslie Lee Kennedy, Jr.
She is survived by her children, Wesley D. Kennedy and wife Grace of Topeka, Shirley D. Cummings of Topeka and Barbara J. Mikijanis and husband Bill of Tonganoxie, Kansas; sister, Joyce Lindeman of Grantville and husband Bill; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Emma will be greatly missed by beloved cousins and dear friends.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Half-Day Cemetery north of Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Rescue Mission or to the Alzheimers Association in care of Davidson Funeral Home, 1035 N. Kansas Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66608.
