Lillie Mcclendon

Lillie M. McClendon, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, age 83 of Westphalia, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. She was born January 19, 1932 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was raised in the Westport area and graduated from Westport High School in 1948. She graduated at age 16 from high school and worked at the phone company in Kansas City for two years before going to Baker University. After college she went to work at AT&T before marrying Marvin McClendon. They were married on June 6, 1953 at the Westport Presbyterian Church. After marriage she was a stay-at-home mom, keeping house and raising her son. They lived in Prairie Village after Marvin got out of the Air Force and lived there until moving to their farm near Westphalia in 1974.
She is survived by her husband Marvin of Westphalia; son, Robert McClendon and wife Sharon of Topeka; grandchildren, Jason McClendon and wife Angela of Des Moines, Iowa, and Brett McClendon and wife Stacy of Silver Lake, Kansas, Crystal White and husband Charles in New York, and Jesse Swoyer and wife Tasha of Topeka. 10 great-grandchildren also survive.
Cremation is planned. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Davidson Funeral Home, 1035 N Kansas Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and sent in care of the funeral home.
