Elizabeth Stover Jackson Wooster-Petrik, age 99, of Topeka passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Midland Hospice House. She was born March 8, 1916 in Jefferson County, Kansas, the daughter of Howard Taylor Jackson and Nettie Elizabeth Stover. She married Lawrence Wooster April 20, 1940 in Topeka. He preceded her in death January 24, 1998. She married Leo Petrik November 27, 1999. He preceded her in death November 4, 2013. She graduated from Jane C. Stormont School of Nursing in 1939 and worked at Santa Fe Hospital where she was night supervisor. She was the Hospital Administrator of the Shawnee County Convalescent Home where she started the first Candy Striper teenage volunteer program in the State of Kansas. While working for the State of Kansas, she instituted Medicare and Medicaid programs at nursing homes throughout the state and was a founder of Midland Hospice. She was active in Topeka Women's Club and was a past district governor of Altrusa International. She was a past member of Kansas Avenue United Methodist Church and Seaman Congregational United Church of Christ and was currently attending Silver Lake United Methodist Church. Survivors include son, Charlie (Marilyn) Wooster of Topeka, daughters Marjorie (John) Oathout of Silver Lake, Pat (Gregg Jackson) Wooster-Jackson of Sedalia, Colorado, brothers Harley Jackson of Grand Junction, Colorado, and S. Wesley Jackson of Salina. She had 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one great grandson, Alex Ford.
Memorial Service will be October 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Silver Lake United Methodist Church in Silver Lake, Kansas. Please make memorial contributions to Midland Hospice in care of Davidson Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at davidsonfuneral.com.
