Leona Eda Burks

Leona E. Burks, 94, of Topeka passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2015. She was born south of Barnes in Riley County on January 8, 1921 the daughter of Alvin D. and Christina Wichman Wohler. She moved to Topeka in 1957. She was a member of Northland Christian Church in Topeka. Later Leona was a member of Central Park Christian Church.
Leona married James Burks. Mr. Burks passed away in 1982.
Survivors include: two sons, James A. Burks and wife Sandy of Wakarusa, Gary L. Burks and wife Patty of Topeka; grandchildren, Laurie Uhler, Tony Burks, Jeffrey Burks, Douglas Burks, Robbie Moss; great-grandchildren; Jessica Uhler, Justin Uhler, Wyatt Burks, Kendyl Burks, Damian Burks, Jadon Burks, Gracyn Burks, Tori Moss, Preston Moss, Kylar Gonzales; great-great granddaughter, Carter Collier; siblings, Fern Stigge, Jerome Wohler and Ila Logan.
Mrs. Burks was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters, Wilma Jackson and Betty Koch and a brother, Orville Wohler.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, September 14, 2015 at Davidson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jadon’s Hope.
