Rose Mary Murray, of Topeka passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2015. She was born December 28, 1938 at Sullivan, Indiana the daughter of Horace and Mavis Gambill Pierce. She will be remembered as a strong, independent, self-supportive woman. Rose was also very artistic, and creative. She was loved by all who knew her because of the love and kindness she gave to other people in return.
She was married to Lawrence Mathews, they later divorced. Lawrence passed away in 1988. She later married Frank Murray. Together they owned and operated Acme Pumping Service. She was involved in all phases of their business. Frank passed in 2007
Survivors include: her mother, Mavis Poe of Topeka; son, James Mathews (Fred Suitt) of Topeka, Aaron Mathews (Polly) of Jeannette, PA, Debra Athanas (Stephen) of Topeka; step children, Ronnie Murray (Alice) of Papillion NE, Donita Balusek (Bill) of Topeka Randy Murray (Shelly) Topeka, Janice Pierce (Duane) of Lebo, KS; and her sister Paula Pierce of Manhattan, KS. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Murray was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shelly Mathews who passed on in 1979.
A memorial service will be held at Davidson Funeral Home on Monday, August 31, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:30 pm Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice in care of the funeral home.
