Florencio Chavez-Loera Sr., age 65 of Topeka passed away Friday, August 7, 2015 at the St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. He was born March 23, 1950 the son of Leonedes Chavez-Rodriguez and Rumalda Loera Chavez in Durango, Mexico. He married Rita Chavez-Gamino. He worked for Resers for over 12 years. He was a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Topeka. He loved to spend time in the garden. He was preceded in death by a son, Juan David Gamino. He is survived by three sons, Florencio (Blair) Chavez Jr. of Topeka, Jose Luis Chavez of Mexico and Miguel Angel Chavez of Mexico; five daughters, Martha Olivia Chavez of Mexico, Norma Patricia Chavez of Mexico, Amparo (Ulises) Gamino of Topeka, Gloria Chavez (Rene) of Topeka and Rosa Chavez of Topeka; four brothers, Jose, Crescencio, Ismael and Gabriel; four sisters, Manuela, Obdulia, Julia and Dolores and 10 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Topeka. He will lie in state at the church from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday with a rosary prayed at 6:00 p.m. also at the church. Interment will be at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Topeka.
