Garrett M. Keen, 50, of Topeka passed away on July 31, 2015. He was born July 25, 1965 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Macon and Jeannie Lymangrover Keen. He was raised in Michigan and graduated from Cousino Senior High School in Warren, Michigan.
Garrett served our country in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany, Korea, Oklahoma, Georgia as well as being a veteran of Desert Storm. During his ten years in the service, he received numerous decorations, medals citations and campaign ribbons including: Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal with 2-Oak Leaf Clusters, Bronze Star, Army Service Ribbon, Oversea Service Ribbon, M-16 Expert Rifle, Professional Development Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 3 bronze Service Stars and Kuwait Liberation Medal. At the time Garrett was discharged, he was a sergeant in the army.
He had lived in Topeka the past 25 years. He worked in management for the Goodyear Tire Company and most recently he worked at the V.A. Hospital in Topeka. He was a member of Central Park Christian Church, loved to barbeque, and enjoyed camping, hiking, and fishing.
He was married to Kim Dries on August 30, 1985 in Detroit.
He is survived by his sons, Ryan Keen and wife Lindsay, Trevor Keen and his fiancé, Rachel Lease, Ian Keen, Jeremy Keen and Quentin Keen all of Topeka; grandsons, Mason and Kyson Keen of Topeka and his ex-wife, Kim Keen of Topeka.
Garrett was preceded in death by his parents, Macon and Jeannie Keen and a brother, Billy Keen.
A memorial service, followed by time to visit with the family will be held on Friday evening, August 7 at 5:30 pm at Central Park Christian Church. Military honors and inurnment will be held August 12, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Manhattan.
