Bonnie Bates Tustin

Bonnie B. (Bates) Tustin, 80, of Topeka passed away on Friday, July 31, 2015. She was born May 7, 1935 at Pittsburg, Kansas the daughter of Walter and Adaline Maskrod Bates. Bonnie moved to Topeka in 1963. She worked for over 29 ½ years for the state in the Department of Agriculture, SRS and Department of Revenue before retiring in 1997. She didn’t believe in idle hands and she enjoyed crafts and handiwork. She also had a love of animals. Bonnie was a member of Westside Christian Church.
On January 1, 1954 she was united in marriage to Jimmie Duane Tustin.
Survivors include: her husband of 61 years, Jimmie Tustin; three daughters, Pamela (Alan) Whitebread, Brenda (Melvin) Schuette and Mary (Steve) Culver; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her five siblings, Max Bates, Reba Grassi, Gladys Brown, John Bates and Walter Bates.
Private graveside services will be held at Westlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of Davidson Funeral Home.
