Eugene E. Root

Eugene E. Root, 90, of Topeka passed away on July 16, 2015 at his home. He was born January 26, 1925 at Topeka the son of Theodore and Agnes (Dressel) Root. Gene farmed northwest of Topeka. He and his family sold produce at the farmers market for many years. After his retirement, he continued to help out on the farm. He enjoyed spending time (holidays, special occasions, birthdays, etc.) with his family.
Mr. Root was married to Martha M. Reamer on November 30, 1951 in Topeka. Martha preceded him in death on May 16, 2002.
Survivors include two sons, Theodore L. “Ted” Root (Shane) and John Root (Sherry) all of Topeka; seven grandchildren: Russell Root, Heather Shoemaker, Jason Root (Michelle), Lori Edgerton (Todd) in New Hamphire, Sean Root (Traci), Petty Officer First Class Reed Endsley (Erin) USN, Everett, Washington, Major Tyler Root (Lisa) USAF Las Vegas, NV, Petty Officer First Class Aaron Endsley (Jennifer) Norfolk, VA and Hannah T. Root of Topeka; 14 great-grandchildren: Isaac Platte, Isaiah, Caleb, Anna and Genevieve Edgerton, Jordon Root and Carson Root, Madison Root and Chase Root, Seras Root, Kaitlyn Shoemaker and Summer Root, Addyson Kaberline and Collin Endsley; brother, Albert Root (Dorothy) of Silver Lake and a sister, Hazel Eslinger of Topeka.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, July 21st at Davidson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Prairie Home Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Topeka Rescue Mission.
