David Scott Ireland

David S. Ireland, age 66, of Topeka passed away Friday, June 19, 2015 at his home in Topeka. Dave was born September 23, 1948 in Holton the son of Harold Ireland and Elsie Burroughs Ireland. Dave graduated from Holton High School in 1966. He received an Associate Degree and taught as an adjunct teacher at Kansas City Kansas Community College. Dave also worked for Hallmark Cards. He was sales manager at Caldwell’s John Deere for over 28 years. He married Karen Weiss February 9, 1968 in Raytown, Missouri. Dave served on the Shawnee County Planning Commission for over 23 years. He was a member of the Family Life Church of the Nazarene, American Legion Post #400, past Commander of the American Legion Post #142 in Perry and served as past president of the Sunrise Optimist.
Dave is survived by his wife, Karen of over 47 years; two daughters, Kim (Rod) Sprague of Spring Hill, KS and Kellum Ireland of Topeka; six grandchildren, Nicholas Sprague, JahnAsia Anderson, Kaden Ireland, David Sprague, Elsie Sprague and Eli Sprague.
Memorial graveside services will be Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sunrise Optimist Club or the Family Life Church of the Nazarene Church Building Fund and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.
