Gary L. Filby

Gary Leon Filby, age 65 of Topeka passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2015 in Topeka at the Midland Hospice House. Gary was born February 7, 1950 in Topeka the son of the late Leffle Filby and Margaret Murphy Filby. Gary grew up in Topeka, graduating from Topeka High School with the class of 1968. Gary married LuEllen Taggart October 19, 1968 in Juarez, Mexico. Gary worked for the State of Kansas in the Juvenile Justice Authority Department/Department of Corrections. Gary enjoyed fishing, watching soccer and football and going to the casino with LuEllen. He was a member of the SASS Cowboy Shooting Gun Club in Topeka. He is survived by his wife, LuEllen of over 46 years; a son, Matthew S. Filby of Topeka; two sisters, Linda Orton of Topeka and Sandra Rayburn of Amarillo, Texas along with many nieces and nephews. Memorial gathering will be Monday evening, June 8, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home in North Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to the Midland Hospice Care and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.
