Clyde E. McNorton, 79, of Topeka passed away on Sunday, May 24th at Midland Hospice House in Topeka surrounded by his family. He was born June 16, 1935 (Fathers Day) north of Topeka the son of Fred and Mildred Hiller McNorton. Clyde graduated from Seaman High School where he played football and basketball. He was a long-time member of Seaman Community Church. He worked for Holloway Motor Express for 22 years and Bowman Transportation for 15 years. Before retiring, he was manager of Rochester Cemetery and a bus driver for Arrow Transportation.
He had been a member of the Moose Lodge and was former president of the Sunrise Optimist Club and Seaman Alumni Association. Clyde was a longtime Boy Scout leader and raised four Eagle Scouts. He was also a youth baseball, basketball and softball coach.
He was married to Daytha Witham on September 5, 1954 in Topeka.
Survivors include: his wife Daytha; sons, Kevin (Candy), Kent (Anne), Kyle (Cathy), and Kip (Elisa); brothers, Wayne and David; sister, Kathleen Nolting; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kerri, in April of 1983 and two siblings, RosaDell and Boyce.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 27th at Seaman Community Church. Interment will follow in Rochester Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday evening at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice, Seaman Alumni Association Edowment Fund, or Seaman Community Church in care of Davidson Funeral Home.
