Mary Kate Bruner

June 15, 1935 — April 30, 2015

Mary “Kate” Katherine Bruner, age 80, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the Presbyterian Manor in Topeka. She was born January 15, 1935 in Elk City, OK the daughter of Eddie and Rosa Lee Campbell. Kate accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior while attending a Jimmy Singer Pentecostal Revival in Butler at the age of 12. She graduated from Butler High School in 1953. She married Donald W. Bruner on January 10, 1954 and they raised five children. They lived in Wichita until 1971 when they moved to Topeka.
Kate worked at Adams Business forms in Topeka for 23 years, retiring from there in 1990. She was a member of River of Life Pentecostal Church in Topeka where she supported the church by quilting, sewing, crocheting, and cooking pies for fund raising activities. In 2010 she moved into the Topeka Presbyterian manor, where her favorite activities included sewing and crocheting items for various charitable needs.
Survivors include five children; Ed Bruner of Olathe, KS, Dianna Bruner of Norfolk, Virginia, Donna Jennings of Norfolk Virginia, Sandy Turkin of Lyndon, KS, Richard Bruner of Topeka and six grandchildren; Sam Bruner, Carolyn Bruner, Lenora Jennings, Leslie Jennings, Cody Turkin, Chelsea Turkin, and Joshua Bruner and one great grandson, Beau Turkin. She was preceded in death by her husband Don; a son, Leslie Bruner and a son-in-law Derek Turkin.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Butler Baptist Church in Butler, Oklahoma. She will lie in state Thursday at the Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka from noon – 8:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Butler Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cappers Foundation in Topeka and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at davidsonfuneral.com.
