Mae Marie Lewis, age 91 of Topeka, a very sweet and loving person, changed her address to heaven on Thursday, April 23, 2015 in Topeka. Mae was born July 13, 1923 in Neosho Falls, KS the daughter of Ira Murray and Minnie Shaede Murray. Mae graduated from Neosho Falls High School in 1941 and attended Iola Junior College and Pittsburg State College. She married Martin Dean Lewis May 31, 1947 in Topeka. He preceded her in death July 4, 2011. Mae taught school in Neosho Rapids, Kansas then worked in Topeka for Santa Fe Railroad from 1944 – 1951. Mae was a member of the Good News Church where she was an active member for over 50 years.
She is survived by a son, Larry Lewis (Tina) of Topeka; a daughter, LaVonne Mumert (Steve) of Topeka; and two grandsons and their families, David Mumert and his wife Sharon of Dallas, Texas and their children, James and wife Megan, Ozben, Katharine and J.P.; Michael Mumert and his wife, Holli of Springfield, Missour and their children, Madelyn, Olivia and Emma.
She was preceded in death by her three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday at Good News Church. Interment will be held on a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm Saturday afternoon at Davidson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Rescue Mission in care of the funeral home.
