Pastor Chester W. Furman, age 75 of Topeka passed away Monday, April 6, 2015 at the Stormont Vail Hospital. Chester was born February 10, 1940 in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of Chester and Bonnie Shook. He grew up in Cincinnati graduating from school there. He graduated from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO and Faith Bible Institute. Pastor Furman was pastor in Texas, Florida, Ohio and Kansas over his 50 years of service. He served as the Senior Director of the West Side Baptist Church in Emporia. He was the founding pastor of the North Rock Baptist Temple in Topeka, KS.
He married Geri Crum November 2, 1962. She preceded him in death in 1997. He married Minnie Mae “Micky” Stockdale November 27, 1998. She survives. Other survivors include one son, David (Cheryl) Furman of Cincinnati, OH; three daughters, Cheryle (Victor) Pickle of Ceres, CA, Debbie Furman of Boston, MA and Bonnie (DeWaine) Robinette of Hamilton, OH; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a guardian, Anna Koenig.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the North Rock Baptist Temple. He will lie in state at the church Friday from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m., all at the North Rock Baptist Temple. Interment services will be Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Hamilton, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Rock Baptist Temple and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at davidsonfuneral.com.
