Harold Pollman

Harold R. "H.R." Pollman, 71, of Topeka passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2015. H.R. was born on December 21, 1943, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Ed K. Pollman and Maxine (Thatcher) Pollman. H.R. spent most of his childhood in Norfolk, Nebraska, where he graduated from Norfolk High School in 1962. H.R. studied business at Norfolk Junior College until June 1964, when he was drafted in the United States Air Force. H.R. served in the U.S.A.F. as a trained weather observer, serving a tour in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. H.R. was honorably discharged in June 1968, earning many medals and honors during his service. H.R. married Lynda (Belgum) Pollman in 1971. Although they divorced later, they had two daughters: Suzanne (Martin) Lane of Topeka and Jamie (John) Hutchens of Round Rock, Texas. H.R. was a natural salesman, spending most of his career in sales, specifically in car sales and real estate. H.R. also built and remodeled houses and managed properties. He was known as being very handy and took pride in his craftsmanship. H.R. had other interests, like fishing, gardening, mowing, horses, cars, cheering for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and socializing with friends. He adored his five grandchildren--Connor, Jaxon, Brooklyn, Harper, and Paxton--spending as much time as he could with them. In addition to H.R.’s daughters and grandchildren, other remaining members of his immediate family include his mother, Maxine, of Omaha, Nebraska; his sister, Edelene (John) Grier, also of Omaha; his brothers, Garry Pollman of Lucerne Valley, California, and Stan Pollman of Chiloquin, Oregon; nine nieces and nephews, and their children. Graveside services and military honors will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 21, at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery at 6th and Gage Blvd in Topeka. H.R. will lie in state at Davidson Funeral Home on Friday, March 20, from 9:00am to 5:00 pm. Memorial contributions can be made to either Midland Hospice House of Topeka, Kansas or the American Cancer Society.
