Troy D. Finlay, 41, of Topeka passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. Troy was born May 2, 1973 in Topeka. He attended Rochester Grade School and graduated from Seaman High School in 1992. He had worked for Hall Flooring since 1992 and was a member of the Carpet, Linoleum and Soft Tile Union #1179. Troy also did a lot of floor installation on the side for extra income. He was very highly regarded for his talent in the industry.
Troy enjoyed exercising, listening to music and will be remembered for his practical jokes, strong personality, and fatherly nature.
Troy met Angie Lind in 1992. They had Troy’s first and only son Bret “Bubba Fish” on December 4, 1993. He later met Shelly Dechand and together brought his first born daughter, Shannon “Shani pooh” who was born on July 23, 2001. Troy then met Erin Baker and they were married in 2008. Together they had his youngest daughter Kenadie “Baby Girl” in May 7, 2010.
Other survivor include his mother, Sandy and her husband Rick Reigle of Belvue, Kansas; sister, Roxann Gooden of Lawrence; grandmother, Wanda Langley of Carbondale; nephews, J.T. Gooden and Beau Gooden both of Topeka; and life-long friends Bill Dechand, Drew Moyer, Jeff Dechand, Danny Ketron, Greg Ketron and Heath Ketron.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, March 9th at Rochester Cemetery. Mr. Finlay will lie in state from 1-6 on Sunday at Davidson Funeral home where the family will receive friends from 1-2 pm. Troy was loved by family and friends in life and there after, great father to Bret, Shannon and Kenadie Finlay and will always be in the heart of his loved ones.
