Catherine A. Sawyer

Catherine A. Sawyer, age 90, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at her home in Topeka. She was born October 19, 1924 in Oneida, KS the daughter of Edward Ruebesam and Marion Leeper Ruebesam. She graduated from Sabetha High School in 1944. She married Junior Elmer Sawyer March 30, 1974 in Topeka. She worked at Blue Cross in Topeka for over 15 years, retiring January 31, 1986. She attended the First Baptist Church in Topeka.
She was preceded in death by a son, John E. Trimpe June 27, 2009 and a sister, Nina Belle Henry. She is survived by her husband, Junior Sawyer of Topeka; a daughter, Janet E. Trimpe of Topeka; three step daughters, Ginger Lane of Farmington, MO, Leona Crain of Topeka and Cheryl Whitney of Florida; a daughter in law, Linda Trimpe of Houston and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Catherine enjoyed visiting with all people and never knew a stranger.
Catherine’s wishes were that her body be donated to science at the K.U. Medical Center. No memorial services are planned. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Hospice and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.
