Mary J. Steers

Mary J. Steers, of Topeka, 76, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at her home in Topeka. She was born March 20, 1938 in Topeka the daughter of Lyndon and Virgie (Keeton) Eldridge. Mary was raised at Willard, attended grade school there and graduated from Rossville High School in 1956. She married Richard Steers. Richard served in the United States Air Force and the family moved around quite a bit before settling back in Topeka. Mary worked for over 20 years at the VAMC in Topeka in the medical records department. She also volunteered her time at several Topeka area nursing homes.
Survivors include her two daughters, Edna Jane Davis in Wichita and Mary Ann Spencer of Topeka. Mary had nine siblings, five of whom are still living, Harold, Jack, Roy, Margie, June and Sally; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Sadly, Mary was preceded in death by a son, Richard Steers in 1994; a grandson, Trenton; her husband Richard in 1986; parents; and brother and sisters, Gene, Audrey and Sue.
Cremation is planned. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 4-5 pm on Wednesday evening, December 17th.
