Laberta Mae Paslay

Laberta M. Paslay, 89, of Topeka passed away on Monday, September 15, 2014. Laberta was born April 13, 1925 at Sabetha, Kansas the daughter of Harlan and Sylvia (Church) Deaver. She graduated from Sabetha High School in 1943 as class salutatorian. She went on to graduate from Ottawa University. She married Roy E. Paslay, Jr. June 25, 1947 in Sabetha, KS. He preceded her in death after 57 years of marriage on October 10, 2004 . Laberta and Roy served together pastoring several American Baptist Churches in Kansas and Iowa. She was a member of ABW and served in several offices with PEO in Topeka and Boone, IA.
She is survived by her son Tim Paslay of Topeka; two daughters, Lexie Paslay of Miami, FL and Lesa Joiner of Overland Park and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Sunday, September 21, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church in Topeka. She will lie in state Saturday from noon – 6:30 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home with visitation from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. Interment will be at Grantville Cemetery on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Westside Baptist Church and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.
