Icy Lee Collins, age 91, of Topeka passed away Tuesday, September 09, 2014 at the Rolling Hills Care Home in Topeka.
She was born June 24, 1923 in Rocksdale, West Virginia the daughter of Charles Carpenter and Dorcas M. Husk Carpenter. She graduated from Philo Ohio High School in 1941. She worked at Line Material Industrial defense plant in Zanesville, Ohio during WWII. She later worked for Essex Wire as a transformer winder. She married Frederick Collins March 1, 1946 in Zanesville, Ohio. He preceded her in death August 28, 2001. Icy and Frederick moved to Topeka in 1998.
She recently had been attending the Faith Evangelistic Center in Leavenworth. Icy enjoyed long walks and visiting with friends. She also loved sitting in her gazebo eating White Castle Hamburgers in the evening.

She is survived by her son, Raymond (Marlene) Collins of Topeka; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. She will lie in state Monday from noon – 8:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:30 – 8:00 pm all at the Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka. Interment services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her late husband, Frederick. Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Rescue Mission and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.
