Melva Jean Rogers

Melva Jean Rogers, age 77, of Topeka passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014 at her home in Topeka. Melva Jean was born November 27, 1936 in Perry, Kansas the daughter of Hammel Pearson and Melva Humphries Pearson. Melva Jean graduated from Perry High School in 1954. She married Dale Rogers November 27, 1955 in Perry. She owned and operated the Antique Doll House in Topeka for several years. Melva Jean was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Jerry Pearson. She is survived by her husband Dale of over 58 years; a son, Brett Tracy (Jan) Rogers of Wade, NC; two daughters, Candi Lou Rogers of Topeka and Sheila Jean Denny of Topeka; a brother, Warren “Buddy” Pearson of Williamstown, KS and a granddaughter, Lana Jean Denny.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. She will lie in state Wednesday from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. also at the Davidson Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Underwood Cemetery, east of Williamstown.
