Charles L. Myers, 86, of Topeka passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Autumn Home Plus. He was born May 1, 1928 at Newman, Kansas the son of Roy and Clara (Korb) Myers. He attended school and graduated from Meriden High School in 1946. He played basketball and ran track while attending high school. After his marriage to Carolyn, they lived and raised their family in the Potwin area of Topeka. He later lived in North Topeka. Mr. Myers worked as a Freight Claims Investigator for the Santa Fe Railroad for 38 years before retiring in 1990. He was a member of First United Methodist Church for over 57 years.
Charles was married to Carolyn Johnson on August 5, 1956 at First United Methodist Church. Carolyn preceded him in death in 2000. Along with Mrs. Myers, Charles was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Donald earlier this year and his daughter Colleen M. Taylor in 2008.
Survivors include his son, Clay W. Myers and his wife Robin of Topeka; grandson, Austin Myers and wife Heather of Topeka; granddaughter, Lindsay R. Myers who is a student at K-State; and a grandson, Nicholas D. Taylor of Topeka.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, August 29, 2014 at Klasse Chapel at First United Methodist Church, 600 SW Topeka Blvd. in Topeka. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends from 7-8 pm Thursday evening at Davidson Funeral home.
