Joseph J.A. Johnson II, age 49, of Topeka passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 after a brief battle with cancer. Joe was born October 7, 1964 in Annapolis, Maryland the son of Joseph J.A. Johnson and Lillie K. Wilson Johnson. He graduated high school in Maryland and served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a manager at several clubs of Topeka. Joe was an avid pool player and he belonged to several pool leagues including APA and BCA.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister, Dawn Johnson.
He is survived by his father, Joseph J.A. Johnson of Atlanta; a son, Joseph J.A. Johnson III of Cookville, Tenn., a daughter, Cierra Quiring-Johnson of Topeka and a brother Jason Johnson of Maryland; Aunts, Vickie “Bubby” Smith (Doug), Tessa Wilson and Ada Wilson, Uncles, Richard Wilder (Judy) and Robert Wilson.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. He will lie in state Tuesday from noon – 8:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. also at the Davidson Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Rochester Cemetery.
