James "Jim" Blaauw

James “Jim” Henry Blaauw, 54, of Topeka, KS passed away Friday, August 15, 2014 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka, KS.
He was born on January 29, 1960 in Hudson, NY, to William L. and Alice M. Blaauw.
Jim graduated from Taconic Hills High School in Philmont, NY, Class of 1978, where he was a member of the varsity football team. Jim graduated from Kansas State University in 1982, where he was a member of the FarmHouse International Fraternity. He owned and operated JB Enterprises, Inc., a recruiting company for the last 10 years.
Jim was a member and Past Master of Topeka Lodge #17 AF&AM, Past District Deputy Grand Master, and former Grand Officer of the Grand Lodge AF&AM of Kansas. He was the Past Associate Grand Guardian of Job’s Daughters International of Kansas. He was a member of the Arab Temple AAONMS and a member of the clown unit. He was also a member of the Topeka Lions Club. Jim was a member of St. David’s Episcopal Church where he was a part of the breakfast crew. Jim officiated middle school, high school and college football for over 30 years.
Jim is preceded in death by his mother Alice. He is survived by his two daughters, Erica of Baltimore, MD and Andrea of Topeka, KS; his father, William of Philmont, NY; two brothers Robert (Mary Jane) of Averill Park, NY and John of Philmont, NY.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at St. David’s Episcopal Church. He will lie in state Monday, August 19, 2014 from 1:00-8:00 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home; with family and friends visitation from 6:00-7:30 p.m.
Interment will be held at Prairie Home Cemetery following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kansas State University Johnson Cancer Research Center, Topeka Lodge #17, or the Arab Shrine Temple.
