Norma J Jacques

Norma J. “Jeannie” Jacques, 86, entered into eternal life on Saturday, July 26, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born December 3, 1927 in Topeka to William E. and Mamie E. Emerson Shoemaker. She attended Grace Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She worked at Elkins Drug Store, Merle Norman, Capper’s and Pelletier’s before starting her career as a homemaker and stay-at-home mom. Her greatest joy was her family, her cats, music, dancing, sewing, crafts and of course, tending her flowers.
She was united in marriage to Lloyd M. Jacques on January 31, 1947 in Lawrence, Kansas. He survives of the home. Other survivors include her sons, Darrell (Renee) Jacques of Holton and David (Vickie) Jacques of Topeka; six grandchildren, Chrystal, Dione, Steven, Michael, Dylan and Andrea Jacques; three great-grandchildren, Joshua Jacques, Paiton and Marleigh Frazier; and a sister, Margaret (Ed) Kaberline of Topeka as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Paul, four brothers and three sisters.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday evening at the Davidson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Davidson Funeral Home. Following the service, Mrs. Jacques will be cremated. Private family inurnment at West Lawn Memorial Gardens will take place at a later date.
