Orville “Bud” Wohler, age 97 of Topeka passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the Topeka V.A. Hospital. Bud was born March 5, 1917 in Barnes, Kansas the son of Alvin Wohler and Christina Wichman Wohler. He married Phyllis Poersch April 22, 1944. Bud farmed most of his life in the Boadville area. Bud and Phyllis were active members of the Fancy Creek United Methodist Church where they served in many capacities. Later in life, Bud owned and operated Bud’s Piano Service and also sold peaches for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of over 70 years; two daughters, Dixie Lea (Gene) Challacombe of Topeka and Dolores (Jim) Schoenfeld of Topeka; a brother, Jerome Wohler of Garnett; three sisters, Fern Stigge of Linn, Leona Burks of Topeka and Ila Logan of Concordia; 2 grandchildren, Chad (Crystal) Challacombe and Dee Schoenfeld along with 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 25 at 12:00 noon at the Fancy Creek United Methodist Church near Randolph, KS. Interment will be at the Fancy Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the services from 11:00 to 12:00 also at the church. Interment and Military Honors will be at the Fancy Creek Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fancy Creek United Methodist Church or the Samaritan’s Purse – Heal Our Patriots and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.
