Lonnie "Carl" Carlton King

May 19, 1941 — June 13, 2014

Lonnie Carlton “Carl” King, 73, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away, surrounded by his family, Friday June 13, 2014 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, Missouri.
Carl was born May 19, 1941 in Norwood, Missouri to parents Ralph and Fern King. “ Ralph and Fern preceded Carl in death.” Carl graduated from Norwood High School in 1958 and then served in The United States Army from June of 1959 to June of 1962. After the Army, Carl worked construction in Nebraska and soon married Katherine Maurer in Red Oak, Iowa. During their 16 years of marriage they conceived their 3 children. The marriage was dissolved in 1978. In later years Carl then met his love, Diane Laub, and spent several years enjoying life together until she passed away in 2006. Carl loved the outdoors, boating, canoeing, summers at the lake in his fifth wheel, taking his family and friends skiing, tubing, zip sledding, fishing, traveling in the fifth wheel in the winter months, singing and playing his guitar, and karaoke. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 217 of Warsaw, Mo and the VFW Post # 4300 of Sebring, FL. Carl proudly displayed the American flag at his home and at every stop he visited during his travels. He truly lived every single day like it was his last and on any given day could be found enjoying his surroundings with a cold one in his hand.
Carl is survived by his daughters, Karen Ann Cooper of Lakewood, OH, Sharon Denise and husband Kurt Schneider of Pinconnsing, MI, and his only son, Lonnie Carlton King, Jr. of Lakewood, OH, stepson Alan Laub of Topeka, KS, sister Carole Jean and husband Donald Davidson, Jr. of Platte City, MO; four granddaughters (Michelle, Alicia, Alexis, Amanda), two grandsons (Robert, Hunter), and one great-grand son (Tobias); one uncle, W J Ryan of Council Bluffs, IA, and his fiancé, Lottie Collier of Warsaw, MO.

Under the direction of Davidson Funeral Home, burial will be at Half- a- Day cemetery in Elmont, Ks. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
