Letha Jones, 93, of Topeka passed away at her home on Saturday morning, May 24th, 2014. She was born January 25, 1921 at Industry, Kansas. She was the daughter of Dewey and Lilly Rhoades. She graduated from high school at Silver Lake. Mrs. Jones sewed draperies and did upholstery work as an occupation and later as one of her hobbies. She worked for and retired from the State of Kansas. Letha was married to Harold G. Jones on November 27, 1947. Mr. Jones passed away on March 7, 2013. She was one of six charter members of Bethel Baptist Church. She was a member of the church’s Senior Travelers Group, who made yearly trips to Branson and other various locations.
Survivors include her son, Gerald Jones and wife Marcia; daughter, Linda Currie and husband Greg, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Letha is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Glenda McCarter, grandson, Zachary Currie; and brothers, Merle and Raymond Rhoades.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 27th at Bethel Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Rochester Cemetery. She will lie in state at Davidson Funeral Home from 12-9 on Monday where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.
