Lester Eugene Ray, 59, of Topeka, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 at Life Care Center in Burlington, KS. He was born Oct. 7 th 1954 in Lawrence, KS to Howard Ray and Marceline (Thompson) Ray. He was married in Topeka to JoAnn Bailey for 20 years, she passed away in May 2006.He was survived by 3 brothers; Howard Ray Jr. of Topeka, Benjamin Ray of Topeka as well as Larry Ray of Topeka and 5 sisters; Linda Williams and Carol Thomas , both of Oskaloosa, KS, Beverly Ray of Topeka, Mary Ellen Ray of Topeka, and Margaret Corber of Topeka. Also, by 3 children; Savannah Ray of Topeka, Derrik Ray Sr. of Topeka, and Bridget (Ray) Kaufman also of Topeka: as well as 6 Grandchildren; Derrik, Lizzabeth, Emily, Clayton, Riley and Shelbie. He was preceded in death by one sister; Ella Fern Ray of Wise, KS, and one granddaughter Zoe. Lester loved to tinker, whether it was with T.V.’s and lawn-mowers to cars and trucks. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and took every opportunity to spend with his grand-kids. One of his favorite meals was fried chicken and potatoes and onions. Memorial Services will be held in Topeka, KS at Northland Christian Church, 3102 NW Topeka Blvd. at 2pm on Friday May 2 nd , 2014. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Northland Christian church in Lester’s name.
