Darwin Dean Wooten, age 67, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014 in Topeka. He was born June 11, 1946 in Marysville, KS the son of Floyd Wooten and Wilma Holle Wooten. He attended Topeka Lutheran School and graduated from Topeka West High School in 1964. He married Shirley Loader July 9, 1976 in Topeka. He served in the U.S. Navy from July 1964 to July 1968 and February 1974 to February 1979. Darwin worked for the U.S. Post office as a mail carrier for over 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #400 and Phillip Billard V.F.W. Post #1650 of Topeka. Darwin enjoyed camping. He is survived by his wife, Shirley of over 37 years; three sons, Robert, Jacob and Ryan Wooten all of Topeka; a daughter, Marcella Wooten of Topeka; 3 grandchildren, Audrey Wright, Kyler Vance, Katie Vance and a great granddaughter, Kiara Wright.
Visitation services will be Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the services. He will lie in state Thursday from noon – 6:30 p.m. Private family Inurnment will be at the Topeka Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the V.F.W. post #400 of Topeka.
