Richard L. Kahler, age 80, of Topeka, died Thursday, March 27, 2014 at his home in Topeka. Richard was born September 1, 1933 west of Dover the son of George A. and Vera Murray Kahler. He graduated from Seaman High School in 1951. Richard served in the U.S. Army serving a 16 months tour of duty in the Korean War. He worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber as a carpenter of 30 years, retiring January 23, 1993. He married Marilyn R. Enneking December 29, 1962 at Holy Name Catholic Church. He was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Meriden, Rubber Workers Local #307, Moose Lodge #555 of Topeka, the American Legion Post #225 of Ozawkie and a life member of the Meriden V.F.W.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn of over 51 years; two sons, Kevin L. Kahler (Amy) of Meriden and Kerry J. Kahler of Topeka; two brothers, Robert Kahler of Topeka, Wayne Kahler of Meriden; a sister, Linda Springer of Topeka and 4 grandchildren, Brooke, Brad, Jacob and Kaileigh. He is preceded in death by a brother, Larry Kahler.
Memorial Mass will be Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Meriden. Rosary will be Monday at 6:30 p.m. followed by a visitation until 8:00 p.m. also at the church. Inurnment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Aloysius Catholic Church and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.Visits: 0
