Diana Aldape Ortiz, 46, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. She was born August 19, 1967 in Hereford, Texas the daughter of Paulino Aldape, Sr. and Eppie (Cordero) Aldape. Diana was raised in Topeka and graduated from Topeka High School in 1985. She worked for several years at Dillon’s Grocery Store at 29th and California and for over 13 years as a para-professional at Highland Park High School and Capital City High School. Diana was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Diana was married to Ernesto Ortiz Fraga on June 25, 1988 in Topeka.
Survivors include her husband Ernesto of the home; two daughters, Gabriela Ortiz and Jazmine Ortiz both of Topeka; her mother, Eppie Aldape of Topeka; two sisters, Anna Galicia of Topeka and Mary Jane Rangel of Topeka; five brothers, Ruben Aldape, Sr. and Jesse Aldape both of Topeka, Richard Aldape, Sr. of Lansing, Kansas, Paulino Aldape, Jr. in Pennsylvania and Johnny Marinez in Del Rio, Texas; and her mother-in-law, Adela Fraga Caballero in Mexico City. She also has family in Utah, Mission, Texas, Del Rio, Texas and Fresno, California.
She was preceded in death by her father, Paulino Aldape, Sr. in 2003; her brother, Rubensito Aldape; nephew and godson, Guillermo E. Galicia in 2012; nephew, Alejandro Trejo Ortiz; and father-in-law, Jose Ortiz Jimenez.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 11:00 am on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Topeka. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm Thursday evening at the church. The family will receive friends following the rosary service. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church or to Davidson Funeral Home to help the family with funeral expenses.
