Hazel Marcelene Hill

Hazel Marcelene Dodds Hill was born the 5th child of Jesse and Della Shaner Dodds December 5, 1924 in Riley County Kansas. She went to be with the Lord on September 25, 2013. On March 15, 1946 she was married to Loren Hill in Neodasha Kansas after his return from the European theatre in World War II. Hazel taught school in a one room school house, worked as a nurse aid, and worked side by side with Loren on the farm and in the dump trucking business. They were married for 59 years. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, husband Loren, sisters Esther, Florence, Thelma, Fern & Ivy; brothers Lee, Gene & Mervin. Surviving children are Laro (Sheila) Hill, Topeka ; Lazette (Terry) Randel, Auburn; Garold Hill , Wakarusa; Sylvia Anchia, Elgin, Texas & Jafawn (Mike) Burghart, Tecumseh. Her grandchildren Michelle (Todd) Schreiner, Colette Randel & Huston Thompson, Marci (Tom) Miller, Stacy (Joey) Smith, Kodie (Adam) Timberlake, Emily Anchia, Nathaniel Anchia, Loren Burghart & Casey Kientz, Justin Burghart, Jordan Burghart, 7 great grandchildren, brothers Ira & Ivan and many nieces and nephews. Hazel brought great joy to many people by calling and wishing them “Happy Birthday.” Hazel’s ministry was done by making birthday
calls. These dates were only recorded in her memory. Please share with us if you received a call, so we can continue her ministry. Hazel’s family would like to thank the staff at Rolling Hills Health Center and Grace Hospice for all the care that was given to Hazel and her family.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 28th at 3:00 PM at the Berryton United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Shawnee Center Cemetery at Wakarusa. The family will receive friends Friday evening at Davidson Funeral Home from 5-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Berryton United Methodist Church.
