George Dutch Schmick

George “Dutch” Schmick, 80, of Topeka passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2013. He was born May 21, 1933 in Wantage Township, NJ the son of Phillip and Clara Langlitz Schmick. He married Shirley Wyman August 23, 1958 in Middletown, NY. Dutch served in the U.S. Army. He worked for E.I. DuPont in Topeka for over 26 years. He is survived by his wife Shirley of over 55 years. Other survivors include a son, Dale of Topeka; a daughter, Cindy (Michael) Kirmse of Terrell, TX; two brothers, Eugene and Craig Schmick of New York; a brother-in-law, Louis Poloniak of New York; two sisters, Jane Sobiech and Shirley Schmick, both of New York and 3 grandchildren, Kyle, Kellie and Kourtney. Graveside services will be Friday, August 30, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mount Hope Cemetery. He will lie in state Thursday from noon – 8:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home with visitation from 7-8:30 pm also at Davidson Funeral Home.
