Mary Ellen Sheldon

Mary Ellen (Fevurly) Sheldon, 74 of Topeka, passed away August 18, 2013 at the home. Mary was born on Christmas Day 1938, the daughter of Lucille and Eugene Fevurly. She grew up in Topeka and Meriden and graduated from Meriden High School in 1957. She married the love of her life Robert (Bob) Sheldon in 1957, he survives.
Mary spent her career working for USD 501, in Highland Park Jr. High, Landon Middle School and Topeka High Cafeterias. She worked her way from a part time baker to the Manager of Topeka High Cafeteria. She retired in 1998.
Mary was passionate about her pets and throughout her lifetime gave love to numerous cats and dogs, Sugar, Tiny and Ollie among her most beloved. She was an amazing artist who brought her love of nature, wildlife, and even Harry Potter to life on canvas.

Mary loved her family of both blood and love. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert (Bob) Sheldon, her son Vernon Sheldon and his partner Butch. Her daughter Amy Sheldon and her partner Cindy. Many people she considered family, Susan and Bill Munck, Pam (Hoffman) Suarez, Steve Scheuerman, Caroline Pauley, Troy Brown and many more. Her grandchildren,Noah Sheldon, (Chuck) Donette Murphy (Josh), Jon Lauer, (Rachel) Sarah (Lauer) Caven (Nick) and Elizabeth Lauer (Larry). Five great grandchildren, Hannah and Lilly Lauer, Claire, Liam and Charlie Caven and several nieces and nephews,
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Mickey, her sister Patricia, her Uncle Jim Goff and his wife Fern.
Mary fought a brave fight against Alzheimer’s disease the past several years of her life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association or Grace Hospice who both cared for her so well in the last years of her life. Also donations can be made to a charity dear to Mary the ASPCA or your local pet shelter. Mary will be cremated and a celebration of her life will take place on Thursday August 22, 2013 at 11:00 am (10-11am visitation) at Davidson Funeral Home
