John Glenn Cox Sr.

John Glenn Cox Sr., 62, of Topeka, Kansas died June 22, 2013 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas.
John was born March 10, 1951 in Topeka, Kansas, son of Glenn R. Cox and Marylynn M. Cox (Miller). He graduated from Topeka High School in 1970. Mr. Cox had a long and varied career as a truck driver although his passion was being a Boy Scout leader. He earned many high awards and positions including Wood Badge, District Commissioner, and Brotherhood member in the Order of the Arrow. His most treasured was that of Scout Master. John gave his time freely serving the Scout program since 1980 establishing Troop 31 in Topeka. His Scouting legacy includes six Eagle Scouts, including his two sons (John and Chris). In his free time he enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf, fishing, cooking, and helping others in need. He was active at the North Topeka Baptist Church.
John was married to Marilyn Reedy (Brown) October 17, 1969. Together they had four children (John, Christopher, Michele, Lori). After divorcing, John married Robin (Geasland) Cox, October 11, 2003.
Survivors include wife Robin, sons; John G. Cox Jr. and Christopher (Krista) Cox. Daughters: Michele (Brandan) Norton, and Lori Cox. Step-Sons; Sam Daggett, Justin Daggett, Brion Daggett, and step-daughter: Crystal Daggett. Six grandchildren; Savannah Cox, Katherine Cox, Nicholas Cox, Jessica Cox, Gabe Bouton and Trysta Norton. Sisters; Margaret (Argell) Jantzen and Sandy Sanders and brother Bill Cox. His parents Glenn and Marylynn Cox preceeded him in death.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. He will lie in state Wednesday from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will be at Westlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Boy Scouts of America Jayhawk Area Council and may be sent to Davidson Funeral Home. Online condolences can be left at DavidsonFuneral.Com
