Charles Dean Ostrander, age 83, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. Charles was born August 21, 1929 in Elmont, KS the son of Edward and Atha Blanche Jackson Ostrander. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Darlene Lang September 16, 1948 in McClouth, KS. Charles was a member of the Elmont United Methodist Church and American Legion Post #400. Charles enjoyed gardening and was a car enthusiast. He also was an avid KU basketball fan. He is survived by his wife of over 64 years, Darlene Ostrander of Topeka; two sons, Kirby Ostrander of Lawrence and Troy Ostrander of Topeka; two brothers, Robert “Gene” Ostrander of Topeka, Ivan Ostrander of Lake Wabuansee; a sister, Marie Rogers of Topeka and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rochester Cemetery. He will lie in state Wednesday from noon – 8:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.
