Loyd E. Henry of Topeka passed away on May 29, 2013 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka. He was born February 18, 1938 at Chandler, OK the son of Howard and Opal (DeBoard) Henry. He served his country in the United States Army. Loyd was in sales for many years. He was a member of Heartland Worship Center in Topeka. Loyd sang in several area gospel quartets as bass singer. He was a member of “The Messengers, “Crossroads” and “Sound Advice”
On December 26, 1959 he was united in marriage to Wilda Taylor of West Plains, Mo. Wilda survives at their home in Topeka. Other survivors include his children, Vernon (Susan) Henry of Topeka, Jerald (Kim) Henry of Topeka and David (Anna) Henry of Kansas City, MO; brothers, Ed (Peggy) Henry of Topeka and Delbert (Sue) Henry of St. Louis; sisters, Ada Belle Wiedemann of Salem, IL and Mary Helen (Don) Hansen of Belle Vista, AR; grandchildren, Jacob Henry (April), Shelley Sondag (Jacob), Jacque Jones,Nick Jones, Sam Henry, Keaton Henry, Noah Henry, Caleb Henry, Addi Henry and Savanna Henry; brothers-in law Jim Taylor (Brenda), Larry Harris (Liz) all of West Plains, MO; sisters-in-law, Waneta Kelman of Jonesboro, AR, and Wanda Nielsen (Robert) of West Plains, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law Joyce Harris and brothers-in-law, Marvin Kelman and Junior Wiedeman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene in Topeka. Graveside services and military honors will be held at Amy Cemetery near West Plains on Monday, June 3rd at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends from 7-8 pm Friday evening at Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Heartland Worship Center or to Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene.
