Lucile A. Halstead

Lucile Amanda Hummer Nelson Halstead, 90, of Topeka, KS, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013. Lucile was born in Elmont, KS on October 16, 1922, the daughter of Ivrin and Marguerite Hummer. Her sister Naomi Myers and brother Harvey Hummer both preceded her in death.
Lucile married David Andrew Nelson on March 9, 1946; they were married 27 years. They had five children Linda, David, Vernon, Stephen (deceased at birth), and Francis Nelson. Lucile was preceded in death by her husband David Nelson (disabled WWII veteran) and her spouses from two later marriages, Bob Henderson and Wayne Halstead.
Lucile was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church, the Oakland United Methodist Women and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also an avid KU Basketball fan and rarely missed a game.
Lucile is loved and remembered by her children Linda Nelson, David Nelson, Vernon Nelson, and Francis Nelson, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, her sister-in-law Imogene Hummer, and other family and friends.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. She will lie in state an hour before the services on Monday. Interment will be at the Mt.
