Sharon Sue Bingham, born on April 3, 1943, in Topeka, Kansas, passed away peacefully on September 25 2024, in her hometown.
She was the beloved daughter of LeRoy and Ethel (Smirl) George, who have preceded her in death. Sharon's life was a testament to dedication and community service.
She spent many years working as Clerk III for the Shawnee County Election Commission, a role she cherished and retired from in April 2010. Towards the end of her career at the election’s office, she started working for the Department of Agriculture. She worked there for over a decade, serving the public with unwavering commitment.
A proud graduate of Topeka High School, Sharon also remained actively involved in local organizations such as the Moose Lodge and the Auxiliary to Philip Billiard Post #1650 and V.F.W., nurturing friendships and contributing to her community.
In her younger years she was crowned the Queen of Kansas by the TOPS organization. Sharon enjoyed spending time at the bowling alley and has numerous trophies to show her accomplishments. She was also on the Busch Pool League. When she wasn’t at the bowling alley or shooting pool, you could find her playing BINGO.
On July 4, 1972, Sharon married Joseph R. Bingham in a ceremony that marked the beginning of many cherished memories. Joseph preceded her in death on July 1, 2000, leaving behind a legacy of love that Sharon carried with her throughout her life.
Sharon is survived by her son, Jeff Boettcher, and her daughter, Kelly Schreiner (Rodney Rhoads). She was a proud grandmother to Danielle Boettcher, Drew (Ali) Schreiner, and Jacob Holmes, as well as a loving great-grandmother to Reese, Ellie, and Crew. Her family was the center of her world, and she took immense joy in their accomplishments and milestones.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Parker-Price & Davidson in Topeka, Kansas. Friends and family are invited to come together to honor and reflect on the impact she had on their lives.
